At their recent national conference the National Middle Schools’ Forum launched a report on the first year of Ofsted inspections for middle schools under the new inspection framework
The striking feature of these results is that 86% of middle schools were judged to be either good or outstanding in the Personal development & well being section. One in every five is judged outstanding. This is an important feature of middle schools and represents the added-value of the middle school system. Parents have repeatedly shown that they recognise and value this aspect of our system in their responses to area review proposals.
The report shows that overall effectiveness of middle schools was judged to be broadly in line with that of all schools nationally.
The report can be downloaded from the conference Reports page.
