Summer 2005
1) Reorganisation plans rejected decisively at the ballot box on the Isle of Wight
Conservatives were swept to power in local elections on the Isle of Wight for the first time since 1977, gaining 22 seats, on the back of a promise to retain the Island's existing middle school system . In their manifesto they have pledged to work to improve the exiting system, rather than follow recommendations from independent consultants to reorganise the system.
This is, undoubtedly, a very important result at the present time.
Please see the attached press release for links to further information and contacts.
2) National Conference - 19 - 21 October, Corus Hotel, Bristol
As well as providing an opportunity to hear a range of keynote speakers of national importance, the conference will be an important opportunity for us to share and discuss middle school issues. The opportunity to meet middle school colleagues from Canada should also be fascinating.
There has been a very encouraging response from members so far, however not all area associations are represented in booking made so far.
It would be very helpful for us to be able to confirm accommodation if you could book your place by the end of May.
For booking details and further information please contact:

I look forward to seeing you at conference
